Every large language model used across Africa today was trained in San Francisco, London, or Beijing — on data that does not reflect Africa's legal systems, languages, medical realities, or cultural knowledge. Africa has more than 3,000 languages, dozens of distinct legal traditions, and epidemiology that differs fundamentally from the populations these models were trained on. This is not a technical problem. It is a sovereignty problem. And it has a solution: build the models yourself, train them on your data, run them on your infrastructure, secure them under your jurisdiction.
