Building Africa's sovereign AI requires world-class leadership across every domain — from model research to megawatt infrastructure. We are hiring the founding C-suite and VP layer now.

Inspired by Anthropic's and OpenAI's research hiring: we are looking for exceptional researchers to train PhotonAI-1 from scratch — pretraining, post-training, RLHF, alignment, and interpretability — with a specific focus on African language corpora at scale.

The research problem that makes PhotonAI distinct: assembling the African language corpus — 3,000+ languages, including law, medicine, agriculture, and oral traditions — at the quality and scale needed to build a foundation model that genuinely serves this continent.

Running foundation model training at the scale of PhotonAI-1 requires purpose-built distributed training infrastructure — GPU cluster management, custom CUDA kernels, collective communication, and a full MLOps pipeline for training runs that span weeks.

Building four Tier III AI data centres across Mauritius, Kenya, Uganda, and Morocco — from site selection and planning permission through civil construction, data hall fit-out, commissioning, and handover. Experience in tropical and equatorial climate construction is essential.

AI data centres are power-hungry. PhotonAI targets PUE ≤ 1.35 and 60%+ renewable energy by 2030. We are hiring specialists in power infrastructure, liquid cooling, HVAC, solar integration, battery storage, and African grid engineering.

PhotonAI's continental network requires InfiniBand NDR intra-DC fabrics, 400GbE spine-leaf switching, DWDM inter-site links, and integration with PEACE, EASSy, SAFE, AAE-1, and SEACOM undersea cable landing stations.

NiO — Nodes-in-Orbit — is PhotonAI's orbital edge compute layer, connecting Africa where ground infrastructure cannot reach. We are building the spaceport, designing the nano satellites, and developing the launch vehicles from the NiO Spaceport at Equatorial Guinea.

PhotonAI-1 will be accessed by tens of thousands of African developers. We need product managers who understand both sovereign infrastructure and developer experience, and developer advocates who can build an African AI ecosystem on our API.

As a sovereign AI infrastructure company, PhotonAI's security posture is not a feature — it is the product. Every layer of the stack must be hardened, audited, and demonstrably under African jurisdiction.

PhotonAI's sovereign compute contracts — with the governments of Kenya, Uganda, Morocco, Mauritius, and beyond — are its most strategically important revenue. We need operators who speak both fluent tech and fluent government.
